Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all the things we are grateful for in our lives. For vanlifers, this may include the freedom of the open road, the community of other travelers, and the opportunity to see new places. While the holidays can be a great time to hit the road and explore, they can also be a source of stress. Here are a few tips to help you have a stress-free Thanksgiving while on the road.

1. Make a plan

Before you start your journey, take some time to think about what you want to do and see. Make a list of the places you want to visit and the things you want to do. This will help you stay focused and on track, and will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed.

2. Find a place to stay

One of the most stressful parts of travel can be finding a place to stay. If you’re traveling during the holidays, be sure to book your accommodations in advance. This will save you a lot of headaches (and money) down the road. You can use Vanly to find the perfect spot to park, and filter by any amenity you might need for the holiday such as access to a kitchen or electric hookups.

3. Bring food with you

Eating out can be expensive, and it can be hard to find healthy food when you’re on the road. Thanksgiving is a great time to stock up on groceries and cook your own meals. Not only will this save you money, but it will also help you stay healthy while you travel.

4. Take your time

Don’t try to do too much in a short period of time. If you find yourself getting stressed, take a step back and take a break. The point of travel is to relax and enjoy yourself, so don’t forget to do that!

5. Stay connected

If you’re traveling solo, make sure to stay in touch. It's easy to feel lonely on the road so don't forget to give your loved ones a call every now and then! Also, traveling is a great way to meet new friends do exchange stories with people you encounter along your journey!
